*Edit- Change color after 8 or 9 on toddler and 9 to 10 on child depending on how far you want the hair color to come down. Plus, I added a couple of rows to the length because I felt it came out a little short. If you feel it is to long just leave out a row.*

Hair:
Leaving about 2 inches of a tail
Ch. 35, 3 Dc in 2nd Ch from the hook and in each remaining chains.
Fasten off, leaving about 2 inches of tail

*Make however many you need. It should start to spiral but sometimes while crocheting it will get twisted and will stop spiraling. Just turn it with your hand using the direction it was going as a guide. I just use the tails to tie them on the hat, knot it a couple of times, and weave in the ends.

Cheeks:
Starting with a Magic Ring
Round 1: 6 Hdc in ring, join, Ch.1
Round 2: 2 Hdc in each stitch around, join.
Fasten off,  leaving enough tail for attaching to the hat.

Finishing:

Attach each piece on to hat and sew the buttons on as eyes. Take some black yarn and embroider/stitch a mouth. You can add bows, flowers, etc. to customize the hat.
